A Best Hour Performance Event

The Day of The Hour is a day long track event, held at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre (MNCC) in Milton Ontario. Athletes test their metal against the clock in an effort to set a new World Best Hour Performance record. The Hour Record is the longest distance traveled in 60 minutes, from a standing start, by an individual cyclist, on a closed circuit. In its current format, the Day can accommodate eight athletes who wish to attempt the Hour record. We are considering opening the competition to athletes wishing to contest 2K and 3K records as well. In 2020, the Day of The Hour event is officially scheduled for Saturday, August 22nd. In the future, the Day of the Hour may be held twice yearly, once in the spring, and once in the late summer. New for 2020, we're offering additional record setting opportunities this year for the shorter distances (ie. Flying 200, TT & IP).

Initially, The Day of The Hour was open to male and female Canadian cyclists in Masters, Elite and Para-Athlete categories from across Canada. The event will be open to any qualifying athlete in North America. Interested cyclists will be able to apply through Cycling Canada. Applications will be accepted twice yearly. Please note that, while there are several age categories for Masters athletes, there can only be one rider per category.
